Once upon a time in the 55+ community of Diamond Glen... Excitement has reached an all time high as the residents prepare to celebrate. Summer Splash, the annual event of the season. That’s right, it’s time to lather up your sunblock and put on your ill-fitting Hawaiian shirt as this year’s party plans include vegan BBQ, a questionable clown, and a most unexpected A dead body floating in the community pool. Perhaps it’s time to consider an alternate location for the festivities? Samantha ‘Sam’ Whitmore is no stranger to a good mystery. She’s a best selling author, specializing in this very genre. But her world is based in fiction and what’s happened here in her own backyard has just put the true in true crime. Against her ex-husband, and dog walking partner, Mac’s advice, this author turned neighborhood detective dives in deep to try to unravel this shocking whodunnit. But wait, is this even a whodunnit? The victim, if he even is a victim, was every resident’s dog- hating neighbor Sandy Crowley. According to police, there are no signs of foul play. He simply went for a swim and drowned after hours. It’s the ‘after hours’ part that’s given Sam pause. Sandy Crowley always obeyed the rules of the Home Owners Association. Would he ever have gone swimming after hours? Sam doesn’t think so. And when she adds in the missing doll, sprig of bougainvillea, and the vanishing maid, this mystery writer quickly finds herself drowning in both clues and suspects. Stumbled upon this wonderful little book by fortune. I was working with the author’s husband and he mentioned it was a cozy mystery. I’d never heard of that genre so had to try it. So glad I did. This is a fun, quick, cute read and I can’t wait for the next one.

Fun. Fun. Fun.

Nothing is more enjoyable than reading a book where you can see yourself as friends with the characters.

Drown Town: A Dog Walking Detectives Mystery - Book On1 is the first book in this burgeoning cozy mystery series filled with interesting characters, twists and turns, and witty dialogue. Silverman alternates between the perspective of Hueby, the main characters’ dog, and the residents of Diamond Glen, adding splashes of the character’s back story along with hints at where the series could go. Mac and Sam, the two main characters, are funny, interesting, and keep you entertained with their antics and unique relationship. I’ll let you read the book and find out what I mean.

The dialogue is face-paced, keeping you engaged page after page, adding to the enjoyment of the story.

Sandy Crowley is dead and I can’t tell anyone. The first sentence sets the pace and the tone for this extremely enjoyable story, which I loved from start to finish. It was humorous, good-natured, and very entertaining – something many stories fall short of achieving.

A definite must-read cozy mystery series.

Cozies or cozy mysteries have always intrigued me for two reasons- one, they are light on the mind; two, they have sex and violence off the platter. The focus is on the who-dun-it which later transforms into a warfield laden with landmines (secrets). Step on one and several secrets will reveal the true arc of a character! Drown Town does justice to the entire concept of Cozies! It’s light, quick and entertaining till the very last page.

Summer Splash, the pinnacle event in Diamond Glen's 55+ community, transforms from a joyous celebration to an enigmatic thriller in 'Diamond Glen Secrets.' Author Samantha 'Sam' Whitmore, renowned for her mystery novels, finds herself thrust into a real-life detective role when the annual festivity takes an unexpected turn.

The novel introduces us to a cast of characters with more secrets than meets the eye, including the protagonist duo, Sam and her ex-husband, dog-walking partner Mac. As the narrative unfolds, the drowning of the notorious dog-hater Sandy Crowley becomes the focal point. The police attribute it to a simple accident during a late-night swim, but Sam, armed with her keen detective instincts, questions the official account.

"Drown Town: A Dog Walking Detectives Mystery" written by the author Steven J Silverman is a must read. SummerSplash is the Diamond Glen event of the summer. People wait all year for it. This event brings the whole community together. Sandy Crowley went swimming in the community pool after hours. Sandy used to follow each and every single rule so it was strange that he was found dead in the community pool after hours.

Sam is a New York Times Bestselling author. Sandy Crowley was his neighbor. Mac was her dog walking partner. When Sam saw the front door of Sandy's house opened, she decided to take a look inside. Sam wonders what Sandy was doing in the community pool after hours. Sam is now a best selling author turned detective. It's hard for her to digest that Sandy has gone to the pool after hours by himself. Read this story to know what happens next.

The writing style of the author is nice. The cover photo is attractive and the language used in the book is lucid. The story is well paced and I enjoyed every bit of this book. The storyline is interesting. Those who enjoy crime stories or stories involving detectives should get their hands on this book. I am definitely interested in reading more books by the author.
