THE QUEST

You won't find anyone on this planet with a greater passion for white wines from the Edna Valley and San Luis Obispo Coast than John Niven. He and his wife Lucy have been rooted in the region for over 25 years (his grandfather pioneered the Edna Valley in 1973). John played a leading role in taking Albariño and Grüner Veltliner to the next level in California during the mid 2000’s. He truly believes the Edna Valley is a gem of an AVA for white wine varietals and deserves to be included in the broader conversation as one of the great white wine regions of the world. It lies just 5 miles from the edge of Pacific Ocean. Its maritime influenced extreme cool-climate and diverse volcanic and oceanic soils allow the incredible opportunity to showcase white wines filled with vibrant energy, minerality, and a whole lot of individual character.

The Cadre wines embody the limitless possibilities of cool-climate white wines from the San Luis Obispo Coast.  We are bound by no laws or traditions, so we are able to harness our endless potential via some of the world’s most notable varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, and Albariño.
